A recent study conducted by researchers from Cornell University and NYU found that a quickie can boost self- esteem – particularly in people who are drawn to flings with no-strings.
Not only can a casual hook-up make you feel more confident, but the researchers also found that those who indulged in the odd night of passion had much lower levels of depression and anxiety.
According to researchers: “When it came to those who were sociosexually unrestricted, having casual sex was associated with higher self-esteem and life satisfaction and lower depression and anxiety.
“Typically, sociosexually unrestricted individuals reported lower distress and higher thriving following casual sex, suggesting that high sociosexuality may both buffer against any potentially harmful consequences of casual sex and allow access to its potential benefits.”
The students with high “sociosexuality” were basically the ones who didn’t have a problem with having sex outside of a relationship.
But the most shocking thing about the study was that they didn’t find any differences between lads and ladies meaning that both partners get a mood boost from a night of nookie.
Perhaps unsurprisingly another recent poll found that first- date sex is surprisingly common .
According to new research, a hefty 15% of randy singles between the ages of 18-24 confessed that they’d bonked after the first meeting.
